Education
MRDA supports construction of schools, training of teachers and PTAs, providing school learning materials and supporting girls to register and remain in schools. Our
Education projects cover 12 Payams in Mundri West, Mundri East and Mvolo Counties and benefits about 16,936 children.
Some of our current education projects are:
- Mundri Support Education Project in Partnership with Oxfam Novib and New Sudan Women Federation. Under this project, we are constructing six schools and training 160 teachers among other activities.
- Improving Primary Education in partnership with Christian Aid. This project helped to construct 7 classrooms, provide learning materials and construction of hostels for female teacher trainees at Kotobi Institute of Education (KITE).
- Kotobi Institute of Teacher Education (KITE) provides the much needed teacher training. We offer long term (two year pre-service course) and short term courses (in-service, fast track and Intensive English Course). The institute uses curriculum of Government of Southern Sudan Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
- Child Friendly Initiatives ( CFI) in Partnership with Oxfam Novib and SCA. This project in Mundri aims at building latrines in 55 schools; providing scholarships and comfort kits to primary school girls; constructing water harvesting systems and installing hand washing facilities in schools; and training 360 health promoters on hygiene and environmental sanitation.
