Civic Education

We educate people about their rights, elections and referendum on self-determination

Activities in this programme are designed to educate communities on their rights and responsibilities as citizens. The community education covers topics such as the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), interim constitutions, democracy, good governance, human rights and upcoming general elections, and the referendum on self-determination.

Some of the current projects are:

• Building local democracy seeks to increase the participation of the local/grassroots communities in the three counties in which the actions would be implemented in the governance and public decision-making processes. This project is funded by Fin Church Aid.
• Educating first time voters is supported by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). The project will mobilize and educate young men and women in Mundri Counties to exercise their right to vote for the first time and to be the vehicle of transformation in their community.
• Supporting transparent and accountable governance helps local government to be more transparent and responsive to the needs of the local communities.
